On Sunday the 31st of October, AustCham Shanghai in partnership with the Australian Consulate General Shanghai successfully held the 2nd joint graduation celebration for Australian university graduates, Class of 2020 and 2021.

We were delighted to see over 300 graduates and guests join us at JW Marriott Hotel Shanghai at Tomorrow Square to celebrate this significant milestone our students have achieved. The event was opened by Simon Woods, General Manager of AustCham Shanghai.

Many thanks to Mr. Dominic Trindade, the Australian Consul General of Shanghai, and David Warner, the Deputy Consul General for coming to support the event. During the warm welcoming speech, Mr. Trindade congratulated all graduates for their achievements, emphasised their contribution to the relationship between Australia and China, and acknowledged how the experience of studying in Australia provides strong building blocks for students to grow promising careers into the future. It was also expected more international students will be able to return to Australia with border restrictions easing.

Mr. Trindade acknowledged AustCham Shanghai's effort not only in connecting the Australian-China businesses in Shanghai but also in creating the network for Australian graduates to tap into great career opportunities with its member companies.

Thank you to Chester Wang, Head of Corporate Finance of ANZ China, the alumni representative from the University of Melbourne, and to Lei Yao, the student representative from the University of Sydney for presenting and sharing their personal study experiences in Australia and highlighting some thought-provoking career advice to our students. Thanks to Chenyu Ling, MD and the Founder of LE FU also a University of Melbourne alumni for chairing the event.

Graduates were also excited to watch a congratulatory video from the Australian universities and State Governments.

We would like to extend special thanks to the Australian Consulate-General in Shanghai, the NSW Government, Tourism Australia, Deakin University, Monash University, Macquarie University, the University of Melbourne, the University of Queensland, the University of Sydney, University of New South Wales, and to our sponsors Swan Wine Group, Mr Willis and Bites & Bottle-O for the great support and for making this event possible.
