Update & Information Sharing: Coronavirus Outbreak

Dear members and friends,

As you will have seen the novel coronavirus outbreak is having profound impacts in China, our thoughts are with those directly impacted by the outbreak.

Beyond those directly impacted it is clear that this will also have impacts on business, including our business community and Australian organisations operating in and with China.

Part of this impact is the flow of people between our two countries. We have been working with the Australian Consulate in Shanghai to understand the Australian Government’s response to the outbreak and will be monitoring this closely in the coming weeks.

From a Chamber perspective, at this stage, AustCham Shanghai is due to return to work in line with the Shanghai Government’s notice on Monday 10 February.

The novel coronavirus outbreak will impact our events calendar for the first quarter at a minimum and we will not be hosting face to face events for the foreseeable future. We will be utilising a digital solution for events in the form of webinars to stay connected within our business community.

We will also be in touch to understand the current and predicted impact of the novel coronavirus outbreak on your business in due course.

All the best,

Jack Brady
