Announcement: Appointment of GM & Executive Director
Dear Members,
On behalf of the Board, I am pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Bede Payne as the “General Manager and Executive Director” for AustCham Shanghai.
As many of our Members know, Bede has a strong existing connection and understanding of AustCham Shanghai and will bring with him a wealth of knowledge to the role. His experience – notably within business consulting, government relations, strategic planning, public policy and campaign management – will stand the Chamber in good stead as we navigate the year ahead. Bede’s recent experience assisting AustCham Shanghai expand its reach into the Yangtze River Delta area, and his prior experience as a senior advisor to the Victorian Government, will no doubt allow him to quickly establish himself in the role. Bede will be working through a detailed handover and transition with Jack Brady in the coming weeks, with a formal start date to be announced soon. Please feel free to connect with Bede on LinkedIn and join me in offering him your support and best wishes as he prepares to lead our Chamber moving forward.
I would also like to take a brief moment to acknowledge our previous and current Board Directors for their efforts in ensuring we have effective succession plans in place for our key leadership roles, and extend my sincere thank you to each Candidate that had expressed an interest in this opportunity – we look forward to continuing to work with you as Members and Partners.
Looking ahead, you would have received an invitation to register for our first “Members Workshop” coming up on 12th August. The workshop aims to leverage our collective experience and insights to shape the Chamber’s strategy for the year ahead, and builds on the Board’s commitment to foster deeper collaboration and engagement amongst our community in the process. I am sure there will be many topics of interest, all of which will directly inform the Board’s annual Strategy Day in October, and am sincerely looking forward to having your input on the day. If you are unable to attend in person, please feel free to join via video conference, or email through questions and suggestions in advance to be included on your behalf.
Please reach out to Jack, myself or the AustCham Shanghai team if you have any queries in the meantime, and I look forward to seeing many of you there!
Regards,
Simon Lance
Chairman of the Board
