BEC Forum Chair Announcement: Hadleigh Churchill

AustCham Shanghai is excited to announce the appointment of Hadleigh Churchill, Co-Founder and Managing Director, of member company hcreates as Chair of the Built Environment Industry Forum. As an active participant and supporter of the Built Environment Industry Forum’s activities over the years, Hadleigh brings a wealth of understanding and industry knowledge to the role of Chair.

As Chair, Hadleigh will work closely with the Chamber’s secretariat and its members to drive value and engagement for members in the sector encompassing companies in construction, property, design, architecture and more. We look forward to working closely with Hadleigh in the year ahead and encourage all Built Environment members to reach out directly to stay up to date on forthcoming activities.


About Hadleigh

Hadleigh is the Co-founder and Managing Director of hcreates an interior design studio based in Shanghai. The studio is well-known for designing many of Shanghai's favourite restaurants and bars as well as retail, lifestyle, and workspaces. hcreates has twice been included in the Architectural Digest list of the top 100 design firms in China.

Before starting hcreates, Hadleigh was an Account Director for a international advertising agency which brought him to Shanghai to support a global client on the 2008 Olympics. Hadleigh then transitioned into a career in healthcare and risk management as the China Sales and Marketing Director for International SOS, helping global companies take care of their employees in challenging environments. This love of creative problem solving, working with experts, and helping clients achieve positive outcomes, propelled him to founding hcreates with his architect wife Hannah in 2012.

hcreates is an interior design and consulting studio based in Shanghai, designing projects across China and increasingly across Asia since 2010. The practice works with like-minded clients to achieve spaces that are designed to enhance one's environment and leave people feeling stimulated and inspired. Well-known in Shanghai for creating contemporary restaurants and bars, hcreates continues to develop a significant portfolio of office and health and wellness spaces too. Its design philosophy comes from an ingrained sense of kiwi ingenuity, innovation and practicality. Design should be simple, fun and clever.

The firm is honored to have been included in the AD100 in 2017 and 2019 by Architectural Digest China and featured in local and international magazines such as Interior Design, Residence and many more.
