Last month the AustCham Shanghai CEO, Bede Payne traveled with Australia’s Deputy Consul-General in Shanghai, David Warner to Hangzhou for a series of meetings with key government, think tank, university, and business stakeholders.
Meeting with Hangzhou Foreign Affairs Office and Hangzhou Department of Commerce
It was good to strengthen our government connections through meetings with the Hangzhou Foreign Affairs Office, the Hangzhou Department of Commerce, and the provincial Zhejiang Foreign Affairs Office

We also met with two separate areas of Zhejiang University. Firstly with the newly minted Institute for Common Prosperity to discuss policy formation and testing in the province. This policy area will likely increase in importance in the near future and it is important to understand policy development.
Secondly, we met with Professor Chen Ling to discuss our upcoming research project on Chinese-Australian entrepreneurship which is a collaboration between The University of Sydney Business School, KPMG Australia, AustCham Shanghai, and Zhejiang University.

It is also always great to meet with members new and old in Hangzhou including Lachlan Easom from Lani Wines and Deli, Lindsay Bellis from Wellington College International Hangzhou, and Chris De Guzman from State Street.

A great and productive trip for AustCham Shanghai as we continue to work hard to keep channels of communications open and relationships strong between Australian and Chinese businesses.
