Event Recap: Breakfast with CEO of FMG, Elizabeth Gaines
On Wednesday 15 January, AustCham Shanghai was pleased to host the Breakfast with CEO of Fortescue Metals Group, Elizabeth Gaines. As one of the most prominent Australian executives, Elizabeth provided an eye-opening insight into the resource sector and the importance of trade with China. We are grateful to Elizabeth for sharing the wisdom and knowledge that she has accumulated over her wonderful career.
With the continuing urbanisation of China and the new Belt and Road Initiative, the importance of Australian Iron ore looks to remain as important as ever. It was interesting to see that Australia is the majority Global exporter of Iron ore, while China stands as the majority Global Steel producer, highlighting the importance of the trade between the nations.
We’d also like to extend our warm thanks to the Australian Consul General, Shanghai, Mr Dominic Trindade for opening the event and Mike Smith of the Australian Financial Review for leading the discussion.
