Great Success for AustCham Shanghai's inaugural Graduate Career Fair
AustCham Shanghai’s inaugural Career Fair 2016 at the Crowne Plaza last Saturday was a resounding success. The event, organised in partnership with Lockin China and supported by CPA Australia and Austrade, gathered more than 560 returnees from Australian universities who came to meet and mingle with recruiters from 43 companies as well as university representatives.
Panels of experts shared their experiences and guidance on professional development with a full audience. Throughout the afternoon participants also had 1:1 discussions with HR professionals on current job market conditions and received ‘CV health checks’.
In 2015, more than 60% of Chinese students came back to China after graduating from Australian universities and statistics show that this number is increasing rapidly. Estimations show that by 2017, more than 30,000 Chinese graduates from Australia will be looking for their first job in China. While employment perspectives for these students are overall very promising, with 65.3% finding a job within the first 3 months of their return to China, competition is getting fiercer and the fair provided a great platform for recent graduates to learn how to showcase their strengths and stand out from the crowd when job-hunting.
Thank you to all our participating universities, companies, partners and sponsors for their support.
