Seeking New Corporate Social Responsibility Partners

Our History

AustCham Shanghai has been active and engaged with Shanghai’s most vulnerable communities since its inception in 1994. Throughout these 25 years the Chamber has raised RMB 5.6 million. In 2011, the Chamber’s CSR program was revised from supporting charities on a primarily donation and ad-hoc basis to a targeted and direct program called 'One Step at a Time'. At the heart of this revision was member demand for a model that provided for the balanced needs of all stakeholders, including a departure from solely financial support and the promotion of direct engagement. The success and sustainability of our CSR program is underpinned by the engagement of the entire AustCham Shanghai member community.

Corporate Social Responsibility Program

AustCham Shanghai’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Program aims to make a significant contribution to the local community by bringing together all stakeholders and channeling the engagement of AustCham Shanghai member companies in the interest of CSR connections (member, partner, and government) and deliverables. We want members to be able to engage in CSR projects in a variety of ways and to generally promote the concept of CSR. A Request for Proposal (RFP) is now being issued to properly inform and engage community partners who would like to be a part of our ongoing CSR program. AustCham Shanghai aims to maintain 2 year partnerships with a stronger group of partner organisations to ensure long term sustainability for all parties involved. AustCham Shanghai welcomes community partners to submit their proposals by Thursday 31 October to jane.xia@austchamshanghai.com

Our CSR program runs for a of a 2-year period. The primary aim is to ensure long term sustainability for all parties involved.

Objectives of the CSR Program are:

  • Providing AustCham Shanghai members with a bridge to the Yangtze River Delta community through active community involvement.
  • Aligning our business message to partners willing to focus on developing life/education skills for underprivileged groups in the Yangtze River Delta area.
  • Meeting the needs of various worthy causes as they arise.

Our Aim

Our aim is to raise funds to directly support the organisations that we pair with, along with collaborating on other potential programs. Through a range of events provided for our membership base, we are able to leverage the collective will of our members, and the Australian business community, to give back to the city and community that we love. Over the past 24 years The Chamber has donated more than RMB 5.6 million.
