China is poised to replace New Zealand as Australia’s top tourism market due to the soaring of passenger movements and capacity in the past year.
The number of passengers flying on Chinese airlines along with foreigners travelling to and from China on Australian airlines has tripled between 2007 and 2016. This growth has led many Chinese airlines to poach experienced Australian pilots, offering generous remuneration packages and career progression plans.
