ATIOM's "Tree Project": Employee Engagement and Training for the Greater Good
CEO and Founder of ATIOM, Matt Spriegel has worked with multinational companies for most of his career. While working in big corporate environments, he discovered a pattern across industries in the way organizations interact with their teams. Training and engagement activities come in waves which are followed by company surveys and pulse checks. Training in particular is often based in a classroom with a trainer reading word for word off of PPT slides. While something is better than nothing, training and engagement require frequency over volume. Team building needs cadence and efficient training must be habitual.
Bringing together his experience and passion for learning, he envisioned a system that could change the old ways of training and engagement, a mobile-first app that drives teams to learn quicker and smarter while providing managers the tools to dig deeper into the hearts and minds of their employees.
ATIOM has recently introduced an employee engagement heath meter which helps managers quantify the engagement of their employees in real-time. The tool tracks feelings like sense of progress, sense of connectedness and overall happiness.
ATIOM’s approach for learning turns boring training into a game. The mobile app helps create a daily habit for learning and optimizes traditional classroom-based initiatives.
Recent studies show that gamification increases productivity and employee engagement. ATIOM utilizes gaming elements such as custom prize wheels, leaderboards and daily quests to increase motivation and allow teams to work together towards a common goal. ATIOM has seen many clients improve their team’s knowledge retention and also decrease staff turnover.
While gamification drives healthy competition in individuals and teams, ATIOM has also developed features that bring teams closer together and compete for a greater good. Part of ATIOM’s mission is to offset their ecological footprint. In collaboration with Roots and Shoots and the Million Tree Project they have developed a way to motivate more learning with tree planting. We spoke with their CEO and founder, Matt Spriegel who said: “While we wanted to offset our own environmental footprint, we also wanted to provide clients a way to offset theirs too. Familiar with MTP and the great impact they have made for the world, it was an easy decision to partner with them on this initiative.”
The “Tree Project” function allows companies to give back by having trees planted on their behalf. The new feature has already received great feedback from users and other partnering organizations. They hope to plant a whole forest by the end of 2021 through the Million Tree Project.
ATIOM is not alone in the journey with The Million Trees Project as they have also allied themselves with many other organizations. With their expertise, we are well on our way to grow sustainable forests to combat desertification and reduce the adverse consequences and damage done to the environment. To date, the Million Trees Project has planted two million trees in desertified areas in China, mainly in Inner Mongolia, together with hundreds of companies and tens of thousands of volunteers! With the “Tree Project” function, companies can instill a sense of pride and ownership over their learning and real-life contributions. This will bring new meaning to learning!
ATIOM is continuing to work towards transforming workplaces through agile and engaging learning communities, one tree at a time.
