Monash Masterclass- Australia and China in the 21st Century

#

In this Masterclass Professor Buckingham, Director of Engagement at Monash Business School will frame the Australia-China growth story and provide a theoretical lens to consider economic opportunities in the future.

China’s investment in its people and infrastructure has been great news for its economy and the benefits have been felt and appreciated in Australia. Most notably exports by the Australian resources sector have been accompanied by increasing demand (albeit on a smaller scale) for Australian services, especially in education and tourism.

With the help of a frame-work we will consider the prospects for this continued economic integration and highlight opportunities for productive engagement. Professor Buckingham will underline the vital need to understand the Chinese and Australian business systems; how they differ and how they are evolving.

This session will be presented by Professor Edward Buckingham. Professor Buckingham's areas of expertise are strategy, entrepreneurship, international business and change management. Professor Buckinham began his career with the Boston Consulting Group in Shanghai and later worked for Schlumberger, the international oil and gas services company in Africa, Europe and South Asia. Professor Buckingham has extensive experience in executive education and lectured at Nottingham University's Business School in Ningbo, China before joining Monash. He has been Director of INSEAD's Executive MBA programs (France, Singapore the UAE and Beijing) and consulted in the UK, France, Gabon, Pakistan, Russia, India and China.

Registration and networking will begin at 6.00pm with a selection of beverages and canapés available upon arrival. After the Masterclass join us for networking with alumni, industry representatives and friends.
