A Memorable Australian University Graduation & Career Fair
On Saturday the 29th of October 2022, AustCham Shanghai held a joint Graduation Celebration combined with a Career Fair for Australian university graduates and alumni. Click here to watch the recap video.
We were delighted to see over 200 graduates and alumni join us at The Westin Bund Center Shanghai to celebrate this significant milestone our students have achieved. The event was opened by Simon Woods, CEO of AustCham Shanghai.
Many thanks to Mr. David Warner, the Deputy Australian Consul General of Shanghai for giving a warm welcoming speech. Mr. Warner congratulated all the graduates on their achievements, emphasized their contributions to the Australia-China relationship, and acknowledged that the experience of studying in Australia provided a solid foundation for students to develop promising careers in the future.
Mr. Warner also acknowledged AustCham Shanghai's effort not only in connecting the Australian-China businesses in Shanghai but also in creating a network for Australian graduates to tap into great career opportunities with its member companies.
Thank you to Michael Milne, the Executive Director of the University of Sydney’s China Centre. He mentioned AustCham Shanghai as a key leader and supporter of Australia-China commercial activities and provides vital knowledge to the community including the Australian university graduates and alumni.
Fred Luan, the Regional Marketing Director, China of Tourism Australia, who is also an alumnus of UTS introduced the unique Australian travel experience and encouraged students to re-visit Australia in the future.
Beecher Ashley-Brown, co-founder and CEO of Ajinga, introduced the recently released online AustCham Shanghai Career Hub powered by Ajinga and encouraged students to engage with the attending companies on the day.

A congratulatory video from the Australian universities and State Governments aroused emotion throughout the audience. A quote from one of the Chancellors: 'Although we are not with you, we are thinking of you and are very proud of all the graduates'.
It was also the first time that AustCham Shanghai introduced a Career Fair to the graduation celebration to connect our graduates and alumni with great companies from the Chamber network. We were pleased to see students actively communicate with companies and many of them submitted their resumes through the Career Hub on the day.
We would like to extend special thanks to all of our partners and sponsors for their great support.
