SeaLink Tech Stake Buy to Bring More Chinese Tourists

#

South Australia-based SeaLink Travel Group has acquired a 10 % stake in UWAI Limited, a Hong Kong-based technology company in a strategic bid to drive more Asian tourists to its Australian operations.

UWAI has built a cutting-edge app which delivers a one-stop shop solution to tourists wanting to book with Australian businesses for a broad range of services including travel, food and beverages, tourism experiences, accommodation and sightseeing. The company began operating in South Australia in September, and has more than 1500 businesses already signed up across the industry.

SeaLink chief executive Jeff Ellison said the acquisition was a strategic move to help drive sales from the fast-growing Asian tourism market, but also to be on the front foot as technology and digitisation transformed the tourism market.
