Is your Official WeChat Account in breach of Chinese Advertising Law?
Changes to advertising law in China have kicked in and our friends at Hi-Com Asia have highlighted some of the crucial developments set to affect your business this year.
The biggest takeaway from these changes are the new classifications for official corporate social media accounts, which now have their posts held to the same scrutiny as any other advertising material. Unsupported and frequent use of language like ‘100 percent’, ‘Number one’, and ‘Cheaper than ever’ on corporate WeChat accounts has landed some companies in hot water (to the tune of up to 1 million RMB).
For more information on how to avoid these new social media advertising violations check out Hi-Com’s breakdown here.
